Welcome! - Updated 3/24/15 NEW MISSIONS SCHEDULED
Welcome to The Peter Emily International Veterinary Dental Foundation (PEIVDF).
The mission of PEIVDF is to provide advanced veterinary dental services for the benefit of captive exotic animals located in facilities in the US and abroad through an increase in the provision of advanced veterinary dental services and veterinary dental education.
PEIVDF began conducting Missions in October 2008, first as a private foundation, now as a public 501(c)(3) charity. In just over 6 years, our small charity has:
- Treated 261 animals at 17 sanctuaries during 42 missions:
- lions, tigers, leopards, cougars, jaguars, bears, wolves, hippos, chimpanzees, baboons, and ferrets, to name a few species
- Performed 365 Root Canal Therapies, 216 Extractions, and 125 other procedures
This may seem like a lot of animals and a lot of procedures, but remember, there are more than 600 exotic animal sanctuaries and more than 200 zoos and aquariums in the US and Canada alone. That leaves a LOT of animals in need of dental work! Please help us continue our work by DONATING today!
Need to be convinced about how important dental care is to these animals? Click HERE to read this posting on the Wild Animal Sanctuary's site, reporting how much ColoColo's demeanor and energy level have improved since his root canal.
PEIVDF provides their expert services - and the supplies required in the provision of these service - directly to the animals. That way, PEIVDF's efforts directly benefit each animal on which we work. Facilities as a whole do not receive direct monetary benefit from the provision of PEIVDF services.

We will be operating 2 tables, for 2 working days.
Black Pine Animal Sanctuary - June 27-28, 2015
PEIVDF has scheduled a mission to Black Pine Animal Sanctuary in Albion IN for the weekend of June 27-28, 2015. We are calling for 3 students for this mission. We will be operating two tables (1 large animal, 1 small animal), for 2 days, with a current patient roster of 6, including: a cougar, 3 tigers, and 2 leopards.
Upcoming Missions: IN SCHEDULING
The Wild Animal Sanctuary - April through Fall 2015
PEIVDF is currently working on scheduling dates to begin working on the lions coming to the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, CO from Peru and Colombia. This is a very difficult rescue, spearheaded by Animal Defenders International. Much negotiations and permitting needs to happen between Peru, Colombia, and the US before the animals can be flown to Colorado. As soon as we have dates scheduled, we will update Facebook, the website, and send out a newsletter ASAP. Currently, there are 18 animals in need of dental work to varying degrees, 8 unknown, and 7 that are lucky enough to have great teeth.
Wildlife Waystation - Fall 2015
PEIVDF will be returning the Wildlife Waystation in Sylmar, CA. The mission is still in scheduling for mid- to late-Fall 2015. The patient list currently includes 3 tigers, a chimp, and a wolf-hybrid.
